The Black Country GP Event is an all-rounder for riders who like to mix flatwork, hacking and a bit of jumping in one saddle. This one is built on Black Country's Maxi Cob tree in an 18" seat and 2XW width, made with broad, chunky types in mind, and it has been lightly used and well looked after. Handmade in Walsall from English leather, it has the supportive, quality feel Black Country is known for.

Fit & feel

18" seat on a wood laminated spring tree, which gives a little flex and comfort under the rider

General purpose design, set up for flatwork and jumping alike

Velcro adjustable knee blocks, so the support can be moved to suit your leg length and position, plus a fixed thigh block

Maxi Cob tree in a 2XW with a low wither profile, suited to broader horses with lower withers

1/2 front gussets, giving support while accommodating bigger shoulders

100% wool flocked panels, which a fitter can adjust to fine-tune the fit as your horse changes shape

Middle and balance girthing, with the option of adding a point strap (this would need to be stitched in by a fitter)

English leather in a rich brown

It'll suit a broad, low-withered horse or cob, with a rider who wants one saddle that can do a bit of everything. If you're narrowing down options for a wide type, try it alongside the GFS Monarch Cob GP: both are wool flocked, but the Monarch has an adjustable gullet and a different tree shape, so it's worth feeling how each sits through the shoulder and along the back.
