2.0 = Fair ConditionThe Fiona Cork FCS Working Hunter is a British-made saddle built for riders who compete across a mix of disciplines, from working hunter classes to the hunting field. This one looks to be built on Fiona Cork's flat tree, with a wide, open head and a wide gullet channel, which makes it a great one to try on flat-backed cob types. It's in excellent condition.
Fit & feel
- Deep seat for a secure, stable position, including over a fence.
- Balanced flap that isn't too forward cut, leaving room around the shoulder.
- Fixed knee and calf blocks for plenty of leg support. That's ideal for working hunter classes, or for anyone after a saddle that can double as a GP.
- Wide, open head and wide gullet channel, suited to broad, flat-backed types.
- Full front gussets.
- Wool-flocked panels, which a fitter can adjust to fine-tune the fit as your horse changes shape.
- Fixed tree, currently W.
- Fixed point, middle and balance girth straps.
- Full leather.
This saddle suits a flat-backed cob type, and a rider who wants a working hunter that also works as an everyday saddle. If you're narrowing down saddles for a broad, flat-backed horse, trial it alongside the Saddles Direct Rebecca Show, also on a flat tree with fixed knee and calf blocks, or a Black Country show saddle on the Freedom tree, built for similar broad types. Compare how the working hunter's more forward flap and blocks feel against a straighter show cut.
As ever, that's a starting point for narrowing things down rather than a fit guarantee, so we'd recommend trialling it alongside an appointment with a fitter to see how it sits on your horse.
