The Kent & Masters Original GPD is a GP-dressage hybrid, made for riders who enjoy hacking but spend most of their time on flatwork and schooling. The panels are straighter and less forward-cut than a standard GP, which makes it easier to ride in the longer leg position dressage asks for. You can still head out on a hack in it, so it's a good choice if you want one saddle that leans towards the arena without giving up everything else.

Fit & feel

17.5" seat on an open-headed tree

Straighter, less forward-cut panels, encouraging a longer leg for flatwork

Broad, wool-flocked panels that suit a range of back shapes, which a fitter can adjust to fine-tune the fit as your horse changes shape

Velcro knee and calf blocks under the flap, which can be repositioned to suit your leg length and position

Changeable R-Bar gullet system (that's the "ADJ"), so a fitter can change the width as your horse changes shape

Short girthing with three girth straps, the third one moveable, giving your fitter four girthing positions to help keep the saddle stable

Black leather, made in England

This one suits a rider who mostly schools on the flat but still hacks, on a horse with a medium wither profile. The Kent & Masters Original GP is the natural one to trial alongside it. It's the same family but more forward-cut, so riding the two back to back is a quick way to find out how much of a dressage leg position you want.

As ever, that's a starting point for narrowing things down rather than a fit guarantee, so we'd recommend trialling it alongside an appointment with a fitter to see how it sits on your horse.
